WINTON 20-21 AUGUST – A FAMILY WEEKEND OF MOTORSPORT – Bill Revill
Remember the weekend of 20- 21 August – an excellent day for an all-Triumph celebration! Bring the family!

Motorkhana – Saturday 20th August

Saturday is a special day – TSOA has hired the skid pan at Winton for some Motorkhana style fun and for driver training. Anyone can have a go, but we are targeting young people, both males and females, to come out and learn how to handle a car. It’s for 12-year old’s up – do you have any kids or grandchildren? Would they like to have a try? Will you or your partner join them? It’s a great way for family fun together. Any car is suitable, and everyone can have a go.

“Nobody ever forgets their first day of motorsport. If you want the kids to remember you, take them out to this weekend”.

All Triumph Challenge – Sunday 21st August

Sunday is on the Winton circuit – the All Triumph Challenge (ATC), an event bringing Triumphs together, both local and interstate.

An MSCA round – There is something for everybody all day – a non-stop day of on-track action, LOTS of Triumphs and other classics to drool over. Entry is free and everyone can walk amongst the cars, chat with the drivers and we’ll have some escorted track laps at lunchtime (and lunch is supplied). The ATC is a great sight – a full field or Triumphs of every year and model, all competing with a chance to win, it’s not just the fastest car.

Come up for a day or the weekend!

This is always a magic weekend – the events are terrific, the collection of cars to see are amazing and we have a gala dinner arranged for Saturday Night with local and interstate Triumph enthusiasts coming from NSW And South Australia. Accommodation is available and can be checked on our Accommodation Ticker (motel list available).

Those who do not wish to spend the day at the track have plenty to do. The Benalla area is full of great restaurants, wineries and scenic drives. Perhaps the best is the Silo Art Trails, with giant murals looking stunning on the local grain silos. The local visitor Information service (Enjoybenalla.com.au) will be available to help you plan your trip.

COME ON UP TO WINTON! BOOK YOUR ACCOMMODATION! LET MICHAEL KIP KNOW YOU’RE COMING! ENTER A YOUNG PERSON FOR DRIVER TRAINING! PLAN TO TOUR THE REGION ON THE MONDAY AND SEE THE SILOS! ENJOY A DRIVE IN YOUR TRIUMPH WITH OTHER TSOA FOLKS AND SPEND THE DAY WITH FRIENDS! CELEBRATE THE 60 TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE SPITFIRE – LET’S SEE AS MANY AS WE CAN!

Accommodation Ticker

Last updated 5th July 2022 (6 WEEKS TO GO!)

What is it and how does it work?

Booking accommodation is often a stumbling block to a weekend away. People don’t know where to go, everyone goes to different places or forgets to book and can’t come. This ‘ticker’ is to encourage people to book in and do it in time. The motels have been taken from the Winton Raceway website, so we are supporting the track by using these suppliers.

I rang all of these places and checked how many rooms they have now for Friday 19th and Saturday 20th August as of today and the result is below.

Everybody can enjoy motorsport!

Bill Revill has bought a pretty standard Toyota – a ‘nugget’ – for competition and invites all of his family to use it. So far, his brother, his daughter, her partner and two of his nieces have run at ‘Come and Try’ days at Sandown and Philip Island as well as events at the Bryant Park Hillclimb. “We all enjoy motorsport now and the kids have a ball”, says Bill. “It’s great to see the family together and I’m sure they will continue to be future competitors”.

VicRoads club permit forms and VIN stamping
Dear Club representative

Please read on for the following updates :
– Alignment of VicRoads club permit forms with the Road Safety (Vehicles) Regulations 2021
– Commonwealth requirement – Classic and collectible vehicles imported from 1 July 2021 will be issued a VIN that must be stamped on the vehicle.
Alignment of VicRoads club permit forms with the Road Safety (Vehicles) Regulations 2021
VicRoads has updated a number of Club Permit forms to improve the vehicle data collected by VicRoads, and to ensure that the correct permit types and club permit plates are issued to eligible vehicles.

What do Club Permit Scheme clubs and members need to do?
The updated forms are now available on the VicRoads website at < vicroads.vic.gov.au > for you and your members to use.
– Club Permit application form
– Club Permit reassignment form
– Vehicle eligibility and standards declaration form
– Approved club office bearers and scrutineers
Please encourage your members to use these current forms rather than previous versions.

Why have these changes been made?
These forms  now have an updated layout and align with the Road Safety (Vehicles) Regulations 2021.

Club Permit application
– There are only four categories of Club Permit – Veteran, Vintage, Classic and Historic, and Street Rod.
– Each category now has a sub-category – either Original, Modified or Replica.
– The documents required for each sub-category are listed at the bottom of the form.
Vehicle eligibility and standards declaration for Club Permit vehicles
– Now includes a record of the VASS approval certificate and Vehicle import details, where applicable.

Club permit reassignment and Club permit agreement
– Re-ordering of the data fields.
Club Permit logbook
– The Club Permit logbook has been updated to align with regulation changes.

New requirement – Classic and collectible vehicles imported from 1 July 2021 will be issued a VIN that must be stamped on the vehicle.
With the introduction of the Commonwealth Road Vehicle Standards Act 2018 and Road Vehicle Standards Rules 2019, vehicles imported from 1 July 2021 that do not already have a 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) stamped into the vehicle will be issued a VIN, which needs to be stamped on the vehicle.

Club members who are considering importing these vehicles should familiarise themselves with the new requirements as explained below.

Most classic and collectible vehicles are issued a chassis number by the vehicle manufacturer.  Under the Commonwealth Road Vehicle Standards Act 2018 and Road Vehicle Standards Rules 2019, these types of vehicles are now imported under the concessional entry pathway and recorded on the Register of Approved Vehicles (RAV).

As these vehicles do not have a 17-character VIN that meets the ISO standards, the Commonwealth Department of Transport Infrastructure Regional Development and Communications (DITRDC) will issue a VIN with the condition that the VIN must be stamped on the vehicle.  It is an offence under the Commonwealth legislation if this condition is not complied with. A plate attached to the vehicle displaying the VIN is not acceptable.

The VIN provided by the Commonwealth via the RAV process is the identifier by which the vehicle must be known throughout Australia for registration and club permit purposes and is how the vehicle’s origin will be determined for the purpose of registration/CPS permit eligibility.
